Sorrento, Italy
Sorrento caught us by surprise - we absolutely loved this city! It felt understated, like a place you could live. From affordable shopping to delicious homestyle Italian food, Sorrento delighted us.
It’s the city of lemons. Fresh citrus trees line every street and you find limoncello (lemon liqueur) in every store. The Curso Italia road is the highlight of the city and lined with everything you could want in a city: gelato, shopping, incredible restaurants. We walked it countless times during our two separate stops in Sorrento.
Our first meal in Sorrento was a good one at AZZ! Italian Tavern. Run by a husband and wife duo, they serve absolutely delicious Italian classics like lasagna and gnocchi alla sorrentina, one my my new favorite dishes of all time. It’s like a hidden gem in plain sight on the Curso Italia.
Highlights below, starting with the incredible gnocchi alla sorentina 😍
A hearty tagliatelle bolognese.
Can’t forget about dessert! We sampled the famous delizia al limone and traditional pear & ricotta cake.
Some of the beautiful sights of Sorrento include the Parco di Villa Fiorentino, Piazza della Vittoria and Marina Grande. It was so nice and relaxing to stroll with no agenda, just taking in the views.
For lunch, we ate at Porta Marina Seafood, which overlooked the water and the fisherman who brought in the fresh catch of the day.
On our way back from the Amalfi Coast before heading back to Naples, we stopped in Sorrento again and had the most lovely meal at Enjoy the Little Things Bistro. They have a constant flow of people waiting at the steps outside for their chance to enjoy the simple but delicious dishes at this little gem owned by a husband & wife pair.
We had the bruschetta, a pesto pasta & delicious gnocchi carbonara (my favorite)!
Cheers to Sorrento, one of our favorite cities in Italy for its understated serenity, good eats & affordable shopping ;)
