Halm Family & Cake Smash

June 2020

If you’ve been following us for a while, you may recognize the beautiful Halm family! Jenna and I met in 2016 when we worked together on the same team, and the rest is history :) We had the honor of photographing Jenna & Nate’s rocking New Year’s Eve wedding party at Pops for Champagne a few years ago and sweet baby boy Connor joined the family last year!

It honestly feels like just yesterday we were photographing Connor’s in-home newborn session in Wrigleyville, and this month we got to celebrate him (almost) turning 1 with a cake smash and fun family session at the Lincoln Park Boardwalk!

Jenna’s sister, Kristie, won baby entertainer of the year at our session, bringing out the most vibrant smiles with rhymes like “nope, dope, cope” and singing “Skiddadarink” (a classic for any parent of a baby).

Since Connor was born around the 4th of July, Jenna brought fun patriotic pinwheels and had a fun customized top for Connor with his name that said “one!”

I’ve attended many a cake smash and I must say, I’ve never seen a baby go straight in mouth first without his hands! Unfortunately we didn’t document this funny moment, but cute Connor’s cake got around 1 minute of glory before Connor quickly crawled away to the next attraction.

He’s clearly a future artist as he painted his entire body with a mural of colorful frosting.

We love the Halm family and are so blessed to call them friends for so many years! Can’t wait to continue walking through life’s milestones together :)
